Entry to Merchant Navy

Qualification:-

1. PCM (Physics ,chemistry ,mathematics) with minimum 60% marks in 12th

standard.With 50% marks in English either in Matric or +2 Level.

2. There are two options

· IGNOU (Indiragandhi open university) B.Sc Nautical Science

· B.Sc Nautical Science Mumbai University in T.S Chanakya through IIT Entrance

examination.

3. IGNOU B.Sc Nautical Sciences conducts written and viva test for Shipping

companies and Shipping Institutes

4. The person should be medically, physically fit and will have to pass for eyesight

test (both for vision and colour blindness)

5. This test will be conducted by MMD (Merchantile Marine Dept.)

Duration

1. One year in the Training Institutes

2. 2 years Apprenticeship in ships

3. Four months they have to attend college

4. Then they can appear for the 2nd Mates Written and Oral test

5. After passing they will be issued with a Certificate of Competency by MMD to

become an Officer.

Option (Direct Entry)

They can apply to various shipping companies

Shipping corporation of India

Euresia Ship Management

Anglo-Estern Ship Management

Barber Ship Management etc

They can apply Various Shipping Institutes

Tolani Maritime Training Institute Talegaon,near Pune

T.S Chanakya

ARI Delhi (Applied Research Institute)

T.S Rahaman

While Applying make sure that all these institutes are approved by D.G Shipping to

conduct Pre –Sea Training.
